The graphs here show the response times of our caching DNS servers (how long in milliseconds it takes to look up a host address).
At present we have 8 caching servers, which are split evenly over 2 sites and handle traffic for our 4 public facing DNS IP addresses. Loadbalancers at each site make sure that the traffic is spread evenly across all servers.
The BBC website is used for measurement. An ideal situation is to have as low a response time as possible. For example, the lower the response time, the faster your browser will begin to download a webpage.
